European eHealth community connects in Copenhagen at WoHIT

The European healthcare IT community will gather November 4-6, 2008 in Copenhagen for the World of Health IT (WoHIT) 2008 Conference & Exhibition.  IHE-Europe joins the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) as a Supporting Partner for this annual event to conduct the Interoperability Showcase, a centerpiece for the exhibition.

The 2008 Interoperability Showcase will include the participation of the European Patients Smart Open Services (epSOS) project.  

The Interoperability Showcase at the World of Health IT 2009 in Copenhagen will demonstrate the power of healthcare systems working together while highlighting the advantages of a common framework developed by Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise’s (IHE).

In a special area of the WoHIT 2009 exhibition in Copenhagen the Interoperability Showcase brings together nine vendors of health information systems to support diagnosis and display needed information to healthcare professional as needed.

The scenario follows the progress of a patient injured in a car accident across a healthcare system from the receiving emergency hospital to a specialized medical center and finally through after-care and follow-up at a clinic.

Visitors to the Interoperability Showcase will be invited to participate as the fictional patient, experiencing first-hand the ability of different systems to interoperate to deliver a coordinated and seamless care through the process.

Vendors and IHE members participating in the demonstration include : Agfa Healthcare, Alert Life Sciences Computing S.A., Carestream Health, GE Healthcare, ForCare BV, IBM, Philips Medical Systems, Radiometer A/S, and SUN Microsystems.
