Update : EHR in Europe
IHE-Europe has defined a framework for basic interoperability among local, regional and national health information network with integration profiles for three interrelated efforts. >> With 450 million people covered by healthcare systems in 27 countries, Europe presents unique challenges for Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE). IHE-Europe creates a common ground and a shared goal of achieving a seamless flow of patient information. The IHE-Europe Executive Board is pleased to announce that the Ninth Annual European Connectathon will be held in Vienna, Austria from April 20 to 24, 2009. Hosting the Connectathon will support the Austrian IHE initiative in further developing their presence in the healthcare interoperability community, according to IHE co-chairs Peter Kuenecke and Karima Bourquard. The European healthcare IT community will gather November 4-6, 2008 in Copenhagen for the World of Health IT 2008 Conference & Exhibition. IHE-Europe plays a major role as a Supporting Partner for this annual event and supports the Interoperability Showcase, a centerpiece for the exhibition. The building blocks of real-world eHealth solutions, IHE Integration Profiles, will be the focus of a special session at the World of Health IT Conference on Tuesday, 4 November. Concrete examples from European countries deploying Integration Profiles will be used to illustrate how profiles are developed based on IHE's pragmatic, open-standards methods, and then applied to diverse clinical settings. IHE Europe is representing an industry consortium of more than 30 companies as a beneficiary in the Smart Open Services for European Patients (epSOS project) launched on 1st of July 2008 that will be in progress for 36 months. The International Standards Organization (ISO) has incorporated the methods of Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) as part of the standardization for health information systems to achieve compatibility and interoperability between independent systems. |
