Intellectual Property

IHE Technical Documents, including Technical Frameworks, supplements and related specifications, are published under the Creative Commons CC-BY 4.0 licence, allowing broad reuse, adaptation, redistribution and implementation, provided attribution is given. This openness reflects IHE's governance principles of transparency, stakeholder representation, impartiality and consensus, and was formally recognised by the European Commission in its decision 2015/1302 of 28 July 2015.

EHDS

This model directly supports the EU's digital-health objectives, including the European Health Data Space (EHDS). Because IHE Profiles are open, publicly accessible, internationally developed and not controlled by a single market actor, they provide a credible, non-bottlenecking foundation for EHR interoperability, testing and conformity work across Europe. Any stakeholder can engage directly in shaping this work, either through IHE's Domain Committees or through IHE PRISM for EHDS, a dedicated initiative to accelerate stakeholder contribution at EU level.
